Each year, MarketMakers take part in their annual charity challenge to help raise funds for Building Schools for Africa. The money raised for the charity has helped communities in Cameroon to build facilities such as schools, water supplies and a health centre. This money has changed the lives of many in the country and pathed the way for a positive future.

The challenge this year was the Yorkshire Three Peaks, trekking across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernshide and Ingleborough.

Employees from MarketMakers, ReallyB2B and Lead Forensics all took part in the challenge and met on Friday 24th June at 12pm to make the journey to Yorkshire.

The challenge started the following day at 6:15am, at the base point in Horton on Ribblesdale, where pictures were taken of the group with the beautiful sunrise. The 694m climb of the first peak, Pen-Y-Ghent, was a very steep rock climb of just under 3 miles. Upon reaching the top, the group realised the strength of the wind at such heights and what a challenge this was going to be.

To reach peak two, Whernside, there was a hard 10 miles walk amongst a beautiful setting. The second peak ascent was slightly easier than the first, not as steep but very high. The 736m climb became difficult on the descent through the steep, rocky terrain.

The walk to the third and final peak, Ingleborough, was much shorter at just 5 miles. The 723m peak was the steepest climb, involved lots of rock climbing and a steep vertical drop on the other side. The final descent was rocky and followed by a 4 mile walk back to base at Horton on Ribblesdale.

Upon returning to base, the group enjoyed a well-deserved celebration in the pub. What a great achievement by all and I am sure there were many sore legs! Not only was the group formed of employees from our MarketMakers brand, but were joined by three of our youngest members. Aged just 5, 6 and 9, the three of them definitely gave the more experienced walkers a run for their money!

Over multiple fundraising methods, the team have raised over £4250! If you would like to show your support for our team, please donate as all money raised goes towards Building Schools for Africa. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mm-lf-really-yorkshirethreepeaks
