Amy Cooke – Team Manager
“I came into the business 8 months ago as a Team Manager, and have since progressed to DMM Tier 2. I get on really well with all of my clients and have a great relationship with them, as well as my team who I think are great. Closing campaign renewals is when my job satisfaction is at its highest. A big personal goal for me is buying a house so saving for a mortgage is at the forefront of my mind at the moment.”
“When I relocated to Portsmouth, I was delighted to find a role in client management at MarketMakers, which is an area I wanted to pursue a career in. My role now allows me to be more client-facing while continuing with performance management.”
Q. How long have you been working at MarketMakers?
8 months.
Q. What did you do before MarketMakers?
I lived in Australia for 2 years, and then came back to London where I managed a lead generation team in a sales company, focussing on performance management
Q. What made you want a job at MarketMakers?
When I relocated to Portsmouth, I was delighted to find a role in client management at MarketMakers, which is an area I wanted to pursue a career in. My role now allows me to be more client-facing while continuing with performance management.
Q. What position did you start in at MarketMakers, and what positions did you progress into?
So I had a unique induction where I was lucky enough to come straight into a Telemarketing Team Manager position. After 6 months I was promoted to Team Manager Tier 2.
Q. Do you think progressing has been easy, have you been given enough opportunities?
We’re making a lot of positive changes in our department at the moment, and with that comes lots of room for progression. We all have regular 1-2-1’s that focus on our progression so yes I would definitely say so.
Q. Talk to me about the support that was on offer- have you completed any programmes through The Business School?
We have regular observations with Tom Furber (L&D Manager) and I am also currently completing the Optimum Leadership Programme. Tom will also book me onto Power Sessions that he thinks will be relevant so there is lots of support.
Q. What do you like the most about working at MarketMakers?
I get on really well with all of my clients and have a good relationship with them, and I also spend a lot of time with my own team I think they are all great. Closing renewals is probably when my job satisfaction is at its highest.
Q. How are you planning to progress next, are you currently involved in any programmes?
I am going to keep doing what I am doing in order to find my next step and carry on earning as much commission as I can.
Q. Are you offered support in your role, who is your manager what do they do for you?
My Line Manager is really supportive and understanding, we have regular 1-2-1s which I really benefit from. He will always offer additional support on my renewal calls. If I have a problem I am able to go to him and he is really good at helping me resolve the situation at hand.
Q. Do you use your progression to help inspire other members of staff?
Yes definitely so in my team I have a real mixture of sales experience. So certainly being able to reflect on my time on the phone in my previous role, where I’m at now and the journey I’ve been on really incentivises them to do well.
Q. Do you have any personal goals that MarketMakers has helped you to achieve or any that you are currently working towards?
I’m looking to buy a house in the near future so saving for a mortgage is at the forefront of my mind, and also enjoying holidays and saving as much money as I can.
