MarketMakers take part in… The Southdowns Slammer!
This weekend the MarketMakers team pulled together to take part in this year’s charity event: The Southdowns Slammer. The event witnessed some of our fittest walk, run (and by the end of it, crawl) 47.3 miles from Buriton to Brighton.
The aim of the event was to raise money for the charity Building Schools for Africa,https://www.schoolsforafrica.co.uk/ who we have supported year on year since 2011. Each year the MarketMakers, Lead Forensics and Really B2B family have come up with creative and challenging events in attempt to raise large sums of money for the charity, and this year has been no different.
So, The Southdowns Slammer, a 47.3 mile hike through the glorious (and extremely hilly) Southdowns. Participants were encouraged to come in teams or alone and were given the option to complete the route in either one day or two. Luckily, the English weather gave us an unexpected spell of sunshine and after a 5am wakeup call the team managed to complete the walk in just one day!
Along with this event the MarketMakers team have also raised money by holding dress down days, charity balls, sporting events, and our employees also donate through GAYE (give as you earn). So far the money raised has been used to provide five primary schools, four secondary schools and a nursery, four health centres and four water facilities to the communities of Nseh, Bipock, Bangourian and Mbiame, all in Cameroon.
We would like to say a massive thank you and give a huge pat on the back to the people who took part and completed the challenge:
Emily Hatchard, Gemma Roalf, Neill Murphy, Paul Thomas, Tom James, Trudi James, Ray Wright, Stuart Calver, Kat Calver, Allan Brown and Antony Dunford!
We also cant forget to thank those who helped the day run smoothly (and safely).
Also, we would like to say a massive thank you to those who have already donated and remind those that haven’t that it’s not too late! Please follow the link if you would like to help us booste the final figure!
