Building Schools for Africa – Exciting New Developments
MarketMakers have been supporting the charity Building Schools for Africa (BSFA) since 2012. It is an organisation extremely close to our hearts.
BSFA is a small UK charity that provides access to hygiene, health and education facilities within communities in Cameroon.
In 2019, the MarketMakers Group held a charity ball to raise money towards building a new Bani Baloum Integrated Health Centre. A project that BSFA was looking to launch in 2020.
When visiting the Health Centre, numerous problems were identified by the community, the health centre management and staff. This included a lack of building to host the health centre, lack of maternity equipment and no water.
The health centre serves 2,175 people including 430 recently arrived Internally Displaced People.
The MarketMakers team have seen first-hand how important these facilities are to the community and stay in regular contact with BSFA to receive updates and photos of the latest developments.
Thanks to the hard work of the BSFA team and their partnership with SHUMAS, this vision came to life and 2020 saw the construction of the new Bani Baloum Health Centre. More than 300 patients expect to benefit from this new facility every month. This is an achievement we are incredibly proud to support. Before and after pictures of both the building and equipment can be found below.
On behalf of the MarketMakers Group, we want to say a massive thank you to the team at Building Schools for Africa for the amazing work they continue to do each year.
