Marketing Firm is Making
Waves as Turnover Tops the Magic £1m
Mark
A Portsmouth marketing firm has seen
a 600 per cent growth in turnover and
a 40 per cent increase in staffing numbers
in less than a year.
Market Makers, of
the Portsmouth Technopole, has become
so large that it has been forced to move
out of its top floor office to two vacant
units in the building.
But it believes that if it wants to expand anymore it might have to start looking
for new premises. At the start of the year the company employed about 20 staff
but now this has reached 50. In turnover terms its first year - 2004 to 2005
- was about £170,000, but this has grown to £1m plus for this financial
year.
The firm only began life in February
2004, but now has between 70 to 80 clients;
including helping raise £1m for Childline before Christmas via a client.
The money was raised by promoting specialist calendars. Any individual schoolchild
that bought these could have photos of friends or family printed for each month
of the year.
The company says that one of its most
prestigious clients is Barclays Bank
because they don't usually outsource
to telemarketing firms. Managing
Director
Paul Thomas,
23, said the firm was looking to have a turnover of £2m by the end
of next year, which would expand to £22m by 2011.
He said "The
big thing for us is that we are trying to put a slick sales and marketing
team together. It's all about how we give the clientele the best
service and how we retain them. Next year the big thing is about retention.
We've employed people specifically to make sure our clients are happy."
